Fuel Cells that produce heat.

Recommended Posts

At this moment we need the radiators for the harvesters and the nuclear engines, right?

Well I don't know if it's realistic or not, but surely it would be nice to have some heat production from fuel cells, don't you think?

For example: I've got a 38t tank that drives with ease 200km on it's internal fuel tank, using a fuel cell array. A real tank produces massive amounts of heats through it's diesel. Mine: none at all.

I dont think radiators are even needed anymore.. LV-N? Nerfed. ISRU? Nerfed. Drills? Nerfed. Radiators are only good with suddenly exploding tiny parts.

And your hot fuel cell idea brings a little life to this heating system that is only affecting Moho and atmospheric entries. I want some hot fuel cells (and RTGs could run a little hot too..)

I've done it myself. So if you want it too, open

GameData\Squad\Parts\Resources\FuelCell\FuelCellArray.cfg and FuelCell.cfg

and change false into true:

MODULE
{
name = ModuleResourceConverter
ConverterName = Fuel Cell
StartActionName = Start Fuel Cell
StopActionName = Stop Fuel Cell
FillAmount = 0.95
AutoShutdown = false
GeneratesHeat = True
UseSpecialistBonus = false

In reality Fuel cells do generate heat as part of the exhaust component of the reaction - so I agree with the concept of introducing it in game - the exact amount of thermal output would likely be based on the selected electric output level. Regardless, I think the fuel cells should generate heat as default.
