    • Change it completely and pretend it was always like that.

    • Be creative with a change in the storyline.

So I have several designs done in 1.x for Avalon and it doesn't quite look the same. I also have parts that don't work the same. If you don't know what I'm talking about, click my signature and read on :)

So I wanted this poll so people can help me decide. I know many are waiting for more, I'm working on it! :)

Just go with the flow. Let the physics drive the story. Hey, at the very least it can provide some additional threads of inspiration.

(Ha! Says me who doesn't compose much of anything :) )

Yeah but the reason for rebuilding is I'm upgrading from an old version, I think it's 23.5, to 1.0.4. So lots has changed, and not all the mods and parts I used are in 1.x. So, there will be a newly built ship, I'm just trying to figure out how to maintain continuity in the storyline with a ship that looks different...

Personally I'd say try to keep it as close to the original as possible, and if that isn't possible/practical for some or all of it then I'd go with option 3 (storyline). Great story so far BTW. Looking forward to whatever comes next.

Yeah, I think that the ship should look as close to the original as possible. Having the ship suddenly change in the middle of the story would be a great plot hole, and I don't think that it's possible to make up a good story to explain how it changed (How'd the kerbals not notice it changing, how did it change, how could it change, kraken)

If it were me, I'd simply continue with whichever version of KSP that you're already using. Assuming you have the disk space to do so, you can just copy the lot into another folder and carry on running that whilst upgrading your original install of KSP.

I have multiple instances of KSP 0.23 (with different mods added) , one of KSP 0.9 and multiple of KSP 1.04 (one for the Elcano challenge, one for my Science game which has different mods, and one in which I test mods on my systemm before using them elsewhere), and still revisit one of the games in 0.23 now and then where I had a nice little base set up on Minmus. Having put so many hours into getting it together, no way was I going to abaindon it. It's likely to be the first game in which I get a manned ship to Duna, I suspect.

for me the most important is the story. The desing of the ship itself doesn't matter much to me. Plus, I'm sure the new version would look good also, even if it doesn't look like the original. Just go with a new design and pretend it was always like that! It won't affect the story, will change very little to the appreciation of the whole thing, and it will probably fly better than if you just tried to mimic the old one!
