Updates to Windows 10 Ksp is now really, really slow

Recommended Posts

So just updated to Windows 10 and now Ksp is running really really slowly. It was fine before hand. I also made sure to update the graphics driver for 10. I figured before I figured out exactly what mods I have so I can back up my save delete Ksp and reinstall that I would check in here first. Just wondering if anyone has had this same problem and if you can help me.

This is almost always a graphics driver issue. Are you absolutely certain you got the right one?

I had the same problem, try checking your video driver. I had a problem with Windows 10 not loading the proper video driver (I have an Nvidia GeForce 740M video card). for some reason during the initial install the video driver caused an error. I had to reboot a couple of times and then reinstall it manually. After that my KSP game actually ran better than in Windows 8.1.

One warning about Windows 10 for those who use Arduino based custom controllers with the Serial IO mod... Multiple users have had failures to establish communication between the Arduino and KSP. One user actually reinstalled Windows 7, just to get things working, cause he was taking his hardware controller to a maker fair, or something like that. Just be aware that it IS a new OS, and that things can break in transition. Time will fix it, but you should never buy a console at launch, and never update an OS at launch. :sticktongue:

Thanks guys I'll look in to that . But while I'm at I just discovered that my computer won't boot up now... Right after the split second windows 10 booting animation the screen turn black( but it's still on) and it just stays like that.... If you think I should post this in a different thread or just go straightto windows forums just say so.

I have seen reports of there being two large Win10 patches last week, in very quick succession, with no real explanation from Microsoft. There were "cumulative updates" on August 11th and August 14th: report here http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/08/17/microsoft_replaces_windows_10_patch_update_wont_say_why/

The boot process apparently stalling could well be a patch download/install, I had one last week for Windows 7. Microsoft are very reluctant to tell you what is going on when they fiddle with the expensive hardware on your desk. Check, but don't expect a useful reply.
