is there a guide to part-rebalancing

Recommended Posts

sooo many changes since my beta build....

nukes now weigh 3 tons not 2.5, and don't use oxygen? ( I like to assume they used it as coolant) but only provide 60 thrust? (its proportional, but ruins my tug designs)

my SSTO LFO rocket, now can't get off the pad.

So is there a guide someplace so I can catch up?

The TL;DR of "Things you used to do/build that won't work anymore", in no particular order:

- Aero is a thing. It matters how your rocket is shaped, and your ascent profile needs to be very different (no more "straight up to 10 km then crank it over by 45 degrees").

- Reentry heat is a thing. Plan accordingly.

- Parachutes rip off if you deploy them when you're going too fast.

- Isp works differently now in atmosphere. Engines have lower thrust in atmosphere now, instead of increased fuel consumption. If your old rocket can't get off the pad, this is why.

- Some engines have been re-balanced to be "vacuum" engines that are now practically useless in atmosphere (have really low thrust). These include the Terrier, Poodle, Rhino.

- LV-Ns are heavily nerfed on everything but vacuum Isp. Heavier; crappier atmospheric Isp; generate lots and lots of heat; use liquid-fuel only (no oxidizer).

- Most engines have lower Isp than they used to.

- Massless parts aren't, anymore. No more spamming OX-STAT panels and radially-attached batteries.
