My first try at modding, here we go!

Sharkman Technologies.

This is a very WIP mod, adding new resources and new ways to get around! This mod was originally the Unobtanium Mod, but I've changed the name as I'm working on developing more practical engines for the mod, instead of hard to obtain stuff that would be better off serving as a warp drive mod.

Help

I am a complete noob with Blender and any sort of art/texturing program, and I haven't even bothered trying Unity yet, so I would really appreciate any offers to help, such as texturing and coding the parts. I thank you in advance if I get any offers to help.

Goals

* Add useful, unique and practical engines for anything from lifting to interplanetary missions.

* Integrate well with RSS and provide a viable option for going places in that mod via a seperate, RSS oriented download.

* Add other useful and fun parts.

* Provide interesting ways to extract & exploit resources used by this mod.

* Give me good experience in the field of modding, so I can make better mods for everyone!

* Be a fun mod to play with!

Dev Update:

Doing okay making models so far, they may be simple engine models, but I'm still struggling :P Not gonna be able to use them for a while, though, as UV unwrapping is something I can't figure out, and texturing is a disaster waiting to happen.

I personally don't know how, but if this is overwriting stock files I'd suggest looking into making a Module Manager config.

If you are planning to recycle models and textures it'd be better to either copy the part's config, or copy that part's folder and place it in your own Gamedata folder. This also make uninstalling the mod easier.

If it's overwriting stock parts check the copied cgf file names, make sure you renamed everything or it will get confused. As for the Recourse you will need a new cgf file with

RESOURCE_DEFINITION
{
name = Unobtanium
density = 0.005 -not sure what weight you want
unitCost = 0.5 -might want this high as I guess it's rare
flowMode = STACK_PRIORITY_SEARCH
transfer = PUMP
isTweakable = false -you cant equip in tanks before launch
}

Oops Just noticed you have the resource in the game, O'well.

Yeah, this mod is inspired alot by that mod, but I intend to have it be more 'practical' in terms of use, in many ways including scieence stuff, and I have an unobtanium-fuelled warp drive planned, the current engine is designed for stuff like large probes and interplanetary vessels. Could you help me, actually? I know you're better than me with mods, so what I'm asking is rescaling parts, the Unobtanium Propulsor Unit uses Ion Engine textures, and the Unobtanium Tank uses 1.25m Xenon Tank textures, I edited their scale in the .cfg file from 1 to 2, and their rescalefactor from 1 to 2, but this messes up their attatchment nodes, making the nodes a bit off of the parts. Heres a pic.

Been trying out Blender, yada yada yada, but heres the important bit:

I am going to add another new resource, Karamite, the name? Entirely my imagination, but I'm going to design it as a high density fuel designed for lifters, as such I will be renaming this mod "Sharkman Technologies" at that point, for now, it's back to messing around with pla-I mean, thinking up concepts and wondering what to do with my life, sorry, I mean planning new features!

If anyone wants the really early release of this mod, then don't be afraid to ask, but be warned!-the parts have none of their own models and are untested!

Thank you anyone reading this for checking out my nooby mod, and I hope you like the 'look' or should I say, 'concept' of it so far!
