Grand tour project - what to choose?

@Alchemist that's a very clean and clever design.  I don't see enough dV for a grand tour with transfers though - is there a second transfer module that docks to the back?

The plan definitely includes a mothership. Probably with an option to detach its engine section (with part of the fuel capacity) and dock it to the back of the spaceplane for some maneuvers (for example, around Tylo)

Interesting.  That sounds like one of the options I sketched out in my Grand Tour notebook.  I have been finding such ships to be very wobbly!  The 2.5m docking ports are have good ultimate strength, but allow tons of flex and don't play well with SAS.  I've looked at multiple simultaneous docking ports but my computer is too part-count constrained.
