Mercury Capsule

The Mercury capsule on top of both the Redstone and Atlas rockets includes a LES and retrorockets for deorbit.

Normal staging sequence should be used with the exception of an abort.

In that case action group 2 will separate tower, 10 will separate retros, and 7 will separate parachute cover. 9 deploys main chute.

For full realism and conservation of power you should turn off torque for the capsule. The RCS jets have accurate pitch, yaw, and roll control.

Yeah mine are based off them except mine are a bit closer to scale, have a better LES, and I forgot the nose cap(will fix)

Tweakscale, as it says in the description. Otherwise I couldn't have a 1.875m Atlas among other things.

I will keep an eye on this, it looks great. Nice job with tweakscale, I like the LES for Mercury.

I don't have a five meter fairing base so it was structural panels.

Saturn V and Apollo are done but the LM looks bad

Why don't you add a Tweakscale config tithe 3.75 meter faring base? I don't know how to do it myself, but I know it can be done.

I have an idea on how to make a smaller retropackage for Mercury.

Use a small inline battery instead of the Oscar-B, and instead of the current engines, use three linear RCS ports. They can get fuel from the supply of monoprop in the capsule itself, which should be enough to de-orbit the capsule from LKO. The retropackage can separate with a docking port or with a decoupler offset into the spacecraft (to hide its ugliness).

I've used this method before on one of my own Mercury bootlegs. It works.

That would equal less fuel for orbital maneuvering and less Dv. I think I will clip part of the tank into the capsule instead.

The red engines also look nice.
