KSP screen shrinking if settings are changed.

pretty much as it says on the title. My modded (although I have experienced this behavior on an unmodded install as well) game on OS X whatever the second most recent major release is. when ever i change the settings from any method ( settings screen, in the flight scene) my screen switches from a rectangle to a square and the numbers pop out of the dials. A revert to launch fixes the dials, but the screen is still small.

That's really light on details Darth, it'd help if you checked out the support sticky and provided as much info as you can.
