lucidtim
Hi there I recently started playing KSP and really enjoy the game. I was reminded of years ago playing the space shuttle game on my atari and Worlds of Flight for the trs-80, and how we only dreamed of games like KSP. It\'s great to see Indie devs stepping up and making great games. My question is, how do I go about changing the plane of an orbit? I\'m not sure how to go about this. I\'d like to be able to land on the same spot twice on the Mun.I also wanted to mention how excited and proud I was of recently achieving my first successful Mun landing and Kerbal return. I even made a humble video of it.KSP Mun Landing and Return to Kerbal.wmv
Capt'n Skunky
Welcome to the KSP Forums!Happy Launching!Obviously you should launch as close to the inclination you want remembering that the further from an West to East equatorial orbit you get, the more thrust you need to reach your desired orbit. To change the inclination of an existing circular orbit, burn at 90 degree angle to current orbit until desired inclination is achieved.Arrr!Capt\'n SkunkyKSP Community Manager
Anomalous_Matter
Welcome to the KSP forums! As for plane changes, it\'s pretty much exactly how Cap\'n Skunky described it. You just burn to the inclination you want, going a bit more sideways to counteract Kerbin\'s rotation. Or at least, that\'s how I\'ve always done it.Either way, you can get most of what you need done with a standard west-to-east equatorial orbit. Luke
The best place to change your inclination is the apoapsis. But as previously said, it\'s best to start with the needed inclination, as changing it is one of the most fuel costly operations in orbital operations
Twinky827
Welcome! I suggest thrusting up, and MOAR BOOSTARZ! In before the man WITH a cap. (Whoever the hell that is...)

mockingking
Sorry to necro this one.How does one get an inclination as close to 0 as possible, from the launch on? Without any orbital operations, that is.
UmbralRaptor
Launch due east (90° heading).
mockingking
Doing that already, but it still gives me around 1,5° off the equatorial. Not good enough!
UmbralRaptor
Use a smaller, more stable rocket? Lock in the heading with (A)SAS? If all else fails, use MechJeb? While the launchpad isn\'t exactly on the equator, the minimum inclination of orbits from it is only 0.1°.
