Ocean Science

Recommended Posts

I'm actually against it. On one hand, it wouldn't hurt me. On the other hand, it would divert Developer ressources that I'd much rather they spend somewhere else.

The in KSP stands for Kerbal *SPACE* Program, not Kerbal SEA Program.

you are right but, what does a space program?,explores the planets, for science, not for fun,and if the planet has a sea,it also belongs to the other planet, and it can also be explored....

so it becomes "off-world sea exploration program" .:)

With some luck,we can see the composition of the oceans of Eve...and Laythe.

I support the idea :D.

Yes. Whilst I agree that KSP is essentially a space game, an ocean is an intrinsic part of whatever body it is on, it is only natural that when studying and exploring any planet or moon that its ocean would also be studied. So, for that reason alone ocean exploration science, contracts and the 'tools' to do it are completely appropriate and should be included.

No need to go 'overboard' (pun intended) with a huge range of specialist equipment etc, but some kit like underwater propulsion and stuff that enables sample collection would be a valuable and interesting addition.

Just please don't turn next dozen updates into "sea parts added, rockits got nothing".

What really would be good:

Engines and water intakes or however real underwater engine are functioning.

Specialized ballast parts that is similar to ore tank, but allows for partial jettisoning.

Maybe a water pond closer to KSC, not only for submarine testing but also for landing hydroplanes.

And of course - underwater biomes and a couple of experiments.

I'd like a scanner for microbial life

Wouldent hurt to add a few Easter eggs too

I've aways really wanted this. I like that they're adding hidden milestone contracts, and some cool locations would be fossil beds, geysers, microbes, etc :) Undersea caverns on Vall would be fantastic too.

As far as undersea tech in general I would love to see it but I could wait a couple of updates for more important things to get tackled.
