Cursoro Dissapearo (aka: The case of the teleporting cursor)

Mahnarch

Recommended Posts

I did some searching around here and didn't find anyone else complaining about this, but;

Since I downloaded 1.0.5 I seem to have a rather frustrating problem with my mouse cursor disappearing and the camera following along with my mouse movement (with no button pushing), similar to how an IVA mouse click will let you look around a cockpit, but it's EVERYWHERE (and very annoying). The launch pad, in flight, map view, VAB - if I try to right click and swing the camera around... it's about a 50/50 chance of this happening.

If it's a Mahnarch specific bug, this will be my first.

Should I burn my computer down and start from scratch?

I have some matches... somewhere.

^ It is, indeed, a normal feature added in 1.0.5 in regards to the double right-click, but if this is happening to you without clicking anything then yeah, it's some sort of input controller bug (and I presume the Mahnarch is some sort of controller or related software). Unity, and consequently KSP, is rather picky about what machinery you use to control the game.

EDIT: HERP DERP YOUR NAME IS MAHNARCH.

still probably a unity bug though ._.

From the Changelog:

"Input:

* Double-tapping RMB now enables a mouselook-toggle mode, similar to RMB behaviour in IVA views.

* Added independent key binding [backslash] for mouselook toggle

* Mouselook mode can be cancelled by double-tapping LMB, MMB, or by tapping RMB or Esc.

* Mouselook mode will also self-cancel on any scene changes, but persists through camera mode changes, for uninterrupted panning through multiple view modes.

* Tapping ModKey no longer releases mouselook in IVA."

It was published along with the release announcement and is in the readme file with your copy of KSP.

When there's an update there's usually a lot of changes included which don't get a lot of discussion anywhere. Squad are pretty good at documenting them in the changelog though, so it pays to read the readme for every release.

...As far as reading change logs... I'm 40 going on 90. I ain't got no time for fancy computer readin'! :D

While I get your point, it really can save you a lot of frustration and even more wasted time.

Extra benefit is you may find out about cool things that you do like :-)

You're right, Pecan.

It's just that; in reality I don't know computer code, like html, so I often skip over it.

Looking at the post about the release, now, I realize that it's in plain English.

So, thanks for the heads up. I would have missed a lot of new things going on. emot-cheers.gif

In other news; disabling the setting "Double click Mouse view", or whatever, fixed my problem.

Thanks, everyone!

I really like the mouse-look mode, but found I kept accidentally turning it on which was annoying.

So I disabled it, but then found that you can also toggle it with \ (backslash), even if you've disabled the double-rmb toggle in settings.

(They don't seem to have put an option in settings to change the backslash keybinding though.)

Yeah. I think my problem is that I was double clicking the right mouse button when swinging around too fast.

And then, the cursor disappears, right when I'm trying to click on something important ("crew report", etc) and, boom, you've missed your altitude window.

This "option" should be in 'opt in', not an 'opt out'.
