Mini Soyuz Replica! [AH NEED SOME HALP]

Alright, so here it is, a good looking, as-of-now not functioning miniature soyuz replica!

As demonstrated in the album, the replica currently has way too low TWR on the second stage, and the parachute isn't good enough.

I'm trying to keep to Spark and maybe Twitch engines.

If someone could help me with this thing I would much appreciate it.

Aww, so little! I agree with Mad Rocket Scientist, engine clipping helps.

As said above, engine clipping will help. I'd say maybe some of the Ant engines if the larger 24-77 radials are too much mass.

Ah yes, I've noticed this in 1.0.5. Try radially attaching a cubic strut to the tank you want to engine on, then attach the engine to the strut, run a fuel line from the tank to the strut, turn on angle snap and offset the cubic strut and fuel line base into the tank. It will line up perfectly.

If clipping engines leaves a sour taste in your mouth, as an alternative I suggest making use of the O-10 "Puff" monopropellant engine - a dense cluster of them. The specific impulse won't be great, but it'll get you the thrust you need.

Well, I made a lot of changes. Added a second stage, rearranged the engines, rebuilt the capsule and LES from the ground up, but even with clipping I couldn't get it to orbit. It's much closer, at least it can get into space. Do you want the download? You can use all modifications I made if you want, or you can remove them.

In soviet Russia you don't orbit rocket, it orbits you! Seriously if I dropped the first stage boosters I think a sub 100km orbit could be achieved, it's a little cheaty, just in time for the anniversary?

Hint : you could use the rapier in rocket mode if you want 4 nozzles in a 1.25m package :) (or even two of them clipped together)

The ftl-400 could be a structural fuselage for all the fuel it holds and the fuselage would save weight.

OK just finished up a rapier powered 1/3rd scale version to 75km orbit, 375ms left so you could raise that, it should dock and land, even has an LES. Abort 1 to use the LES (got to stage fairing for the LES to work). Action Group 2 to switch mode on the second stage Rapier once it gets below 180kn, and Action group 3 for Solar Panels.

Wow the Thud version has a TWR of 5.5! it streaks off the pad, pretty sure it can just make it to orbit, but it looks so much cooler doing it. Watch for Korolevs cross! It is so cool I want to release it.

The second stage is the core stage, the Soyuz had a third stage, which this has, combined SM.

I might be flogging a dead horse, the Thud version is just too powerful at the moment and uses up fuel too quick. Looks much better though.

The Rapier powered one works no problems, just using twitches and sparks its more problematic.
