In light of the recent announcement, I thought I'd start a thread.

The Orion capsule will as of tonight, receive a silver, metallic-based thermal control coating that will be bonded to the TPS tiles.
I don't know what it is about that... but... I like it.

Could you link me to the announcement or something?
Added to OP.

I definitely think it looks nicer. I also definitely know that it'll be infinitely more difficult to author an Orion capsule in KSP now due to the reflective coating. I wish there was support for reflective materials in stock KSP.

Actually, I have seen mods that have reflective visors, like in texturereplacer for example. I have no clue if anybody has ever tried it for an entire part though.

I'll say that it looks cool.
It'll be pretty easy once KSP has been ported to Unity 5. Making shiny metal isn't exactly difficult with physically based rendering.
It is never difficult, only expensive in computational terms.
