Mining Excavator Junior better?

I´m just setting up a new Mining-lander and hab a look on the new Drill-o-matic junior.
From the data displayed in the VAB it looks like the junior needs less power, less cooling, weighs less, costs less, but has the same ore output like its bigger brother.

So why should i ever use the big one, if the small one does the same but is cheaper by all means? Edited November 21, 2015 by Gooru

The small one won't work at ore concentrations below 2.5%

The large drill has a crazy long reach. The Jr has already given me an error I've never seen with the full size drill: "no ground contact"

But if you can target a decent ore patch from orbit or with the narrow-band scanner, the Jr has a lot of advantages.
