64 bit workaround?

Would be interested too.

However, in the meantime until they release a proper stable 64bit version, I ended up installing Linux in a dual-boot fashion to play KSP. Runs like a charm with tons of mods and 7GB RAM usage. :D

Yeah I used Linux for the last month but I couldn't get over the lack of support for my video card amongst other things.  It was a great experience while playing KSP but I'm not going through with trying to get proprietary drivers again and getting steam up and running. Lol I'm not even interested in a dual boot either :/

I just gave it a try ... and well, it is working pretty good so far. Didn't expect that. I remember the "official" 64bit version barely even made it past the loading screen.

Running stable at 5,6GB RAM. However, as the thread already says, some mods are disabling themselfs, like FAR, USI Interstellar and other stuff. Got some notifications about vessels not being loaded due to missing parts. Had to edit the savefile and remove the parts, luckily it was just radially mounted LifeSupportMiniPacks, so nothing important and I was able to load the save without errors.

Looking good so far. "Galactic Neighborhood" and all the planet packs are there, no error messages in log.

Would be good tho to find a way to make the other mods running. FAR and Interstellar would be pretty nice to have.

Edit

Looks like I got some bug with Parachutes. Adding Parachutes to a vessel in VAB doesn't create any icons in the action groups.

[LOG 09:42:52.299] ModuleParachuteFix.Start(): v01.06
[WRN 09:42:52.299] ModuleParachuteFix.Start(): Did not find Parachute Module.

Could be some error related to StockBugFix mod.

you almost dont need the stockbugfix in 1.05 anymore - its better to avoid it as it might cause new problems ;)

about the "not working mods": there is a "unfixer" -somewhere-, that checks the mods and removes x64bit switches / disabling in them.

it does NOT alter the mods for having no bugs in x64, it just enables them.

Please dont report bugs resulting from using any of this tools / methods / x64
