Childhood's End

While I have never read the book, my biggest complaint is (since I'm actually watching it on TV) that the content is 1 minute of movie to 9 minutes of commercials and promos of other shows on SyFy.  I should have just waited to watch it online without so many commercials.  I HATE them.  I also boycott the products advertised.  Yep.

I read the book long long time ago, I watch the first chapter yesterday, it seems "pretty" accurate.
Of course you will have a lack of details as always, the only thing that I did not like from the series (but I dont remember how exactly was in the book) is that all solutions just seems like socialist measures. In this matter I guess Arthur was kinda more serious in all economics and strategic measures to solve the world's problems.

But well, the series seems pretty well done.. I am waiting to see the next two chapters.

By the way, the book is not so big, so 4 hours of filming seems ok for the adaptation.

PD: In my head, the description of the overlords was with smaller wings, because in their home planet the gravity was low.

Yea, that. Notice how those things only work when you've got an Overlord forcing such things to work... and mind you, successful in science fiction fantasy only.

That all but ruined it for me. What really annoyed me was that after the final (3rd) episode, they premiered some new 'Magicians' series commercial-free.

I thought it was 'ok', although I use that term loosely as I thought it was overly drawn out in dramatics. I found the end utterly anticlimactic. They should have let Stanley Kubrick produce it... but alas, like Clarke, he's dead.

Edit:
It's been bugging me, the thought in the back of my head, the name on the tip of my tongue; But this afternoon it came to me. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin and the 'Noosphere'. Those of you familiar will see it.

Because it dawned on me.
