Travel from moon to moon

Recommended Posts

I can travel to a moon and back to the planet and then to another moon. But is there any sound way to go from moon to moon directly without it taking forever? I just go back to Kerbin orbit and then to Minmus because it is just faster to get a good Hohmann transfer that way.

You will have to do it like an interplanetary transfer, there are launch windows you can use for greater efficiency. But if you are looking for speed, well, can't help ya. With Mun and Minmus there's even the inclination problem.

Depends what your definition of "taking forever" is.  Going between Mun and Minmus is going to take several days and a bit less than half a Minmus orbit.

You can use the planner at http://ksp.olex.biz to work out the appropriate transfer window between Mun and Minmus (though note that it doesn't include the inclination change, other than warning you about it; you'll need to do a small inclination burn at the AN/DN).

Try and arrive at the an or dn.  That way you can save on the inclination, but it limits when you can make the journey.  I haven't made a shot for minmus from mun, but have done plenty the other way around.  Try not to worry to much on trip duration, go start another mission while you wait.

That's why they invented time-warp, and Kerbal Alarm Clock ;)   Maybe a new feature for MechJeb ;)

No need for a new feature in MechJeb.
Mechjeb already has an advance transfer planner to go from one planet to another. Going from moon to moon is EXACTLY the same and can be done with the same advanced transfer planner.
