[Solved] Strange Graphics Glitch

Recommended Posts

So the game plays fine, but I get these weird graphics glitches in the tracking station. Glitch #1 is the obvious weird rectangle of color, and glitch #2 is the floating circles above Kerbin that says 'Tracking Station'.

Linux 64bit | Nvidia graphics driver 352.63 | 16GB Ram/i5 @ 4.2ghz/680gtx

Here's what the glitch looks like: http://imgur.com/qgpdT3k

Any idea whats causing either one of these? Here's my modlist:

Thanks in advance for any help.

Solution = use 1920x1080 resolution

Have you recently moved? And have you tried a fresh install? And have you tried it without mods?

This is a brand new fresh install of Linux Mint. It's by itself on a 1TB hard drive. A fresh install of KSP doesn't display either problem, same without mods. I know its one specific mod, but I cannot for the life of me figure out which. The glitch itself doesn't leave many clues. I've tried removing damn near a third of my modlist one by one so far... no dice.

I almost think its a graphics driver problem.

Interesting..

There's a known bug with Windows + OpenGL that causes everything in Tracking Station to be offset, leaving a black bar to the left...

Your issue seems just like that, except the bar is colored, like a graphics artifact...

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/124830-bug-in-tracking-station-105/

I've heard (and experienced) that bug on Windows+OpenGL but am yet to see it on Linux (I've installed Linux Mint, to play KSP as well, only 3 days ago)

Now, some of the solutions for Win+OpenGL is to doublecheck KSP is running on the same resolution than Windows..

I've noticed that your log says:

Desktop is 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz

And further down:

requesting resize 1280 x 768
requesting fullscreen 1280 x 768 at 0 Hz
Desktop is 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz

Which hints that KSP is not running on your native resolution... is that deliberate? Can you check the resolution on the settings and, if needed, change it to 1920x1080? That may help...

If that does not help, another solution for Win+OpenGL is to alt+tab the game whenever this glitch happens... when getting back to KSP, the glitch "should" be gone, but your mileage may vary...

Nvidia uses the same code for OpenGL on all platforms. Looks like nvidia driver-specific bug.

I agree. It may be recent too - this bug started for me only with fresh install few weeks ago, and it happens only on OpenGL - but did not happen few months ago when I used OpenGL. Both times I used 1.0.5, and I have nvidia card.
