Retrieving "lost" ship design from active ship in orbit.

Recommended Posts

Greetings!

I've ran into a small problem with expanding my space station where I need to sync a few docking ports correctly.

The thing is I've lost the design for the original station in orbit and I want to use that to get the docking ports aligned properly and work on the expansion from there on.

Basically I'm wondering if there is a way to get an active (flying/orbiting) craft's design loaded into the ship editor - with or without mods :).

Cheers.

The answer is basically no, you're out of luck.  The game's representation of an actual flying ship is quite different from a ship design, and it's non-trivial to convert from one to the other.

That's not to say it can't be done, just that it would be hard.  Certainly, anything that's not part of the current stage would be un-recoverable, because it's just gone.

I don't know of any tool to try to extract a .craft from a .sfs, but perhaps someone else has a better answer.

Thanks for the help folks, I ended up going with the Craft Extractor made by Ezriilc here on the forums - Works like a charm! It does copy only the parts that are in flight but that's exactly what I need ;)

I tried using ClawKSP "InflightShipSave" but it didn't work as apparently it isn't updated past v0.90.:)
