[STOCK] KDS Junco Bush Plane (With ski equipped tundra variant!)

Recommended Posts

The KDS Junco

An all terrain light bush plane coming to you from Killian Dynamic Systems! Land in steep mountain ranges and anywhere else you wish.

Action group 8 to toggle the engine, 7 to toggle flaps. When landing, try to barely stall onto your target to stop quickly.

The skis on the tundra variant create a lot of friction with the ground, so taking off can be finicky. As long as you keep it straight, however, it will take off without a problem. When landing, come in at a shallow angle under 45 m/s, and touch down softly. I wouldn't advise landing on anything but flat ground with the skis.

Enjoy!

Whoa. The simplicity of this thing's design and it's internal detail is amazing. I've never really been into planes like this, but I really want one in KSP now. Post some screenshots showing the cockpit detail, maybe also the whole view from it instead of one 80 degree narrow shot.

Thanks! Unfortunately the FOV of the Kerbal pilot when using the HullcamVDS mod (For first person) doesn't allow a good view of the cockpit, but here's a shot from the SPH:

Really cute, clean build Rix! That's a lovely looking airicraft. Might I recommend using a Vagani suspension system? It would really add to the 'feel' of the landing.

I'm working on updating the suspension currently, as right now of course it's pretty stiff. I'll be using my own system rather than Vagani's though.

I was going for that bouncy feeling but I guess I didn't take into account how light the plane is compared to the trucks and other planes I've built :sticktongue:

I found three small engines gives a nice amount of bounce with a light vehicle. It's moot though. 1.1 will have a brand new suspension system.

Also, can you make a more militarized version of that, meant for troop transport and made to survive hard conditions, using KAX?

This plane is meant to be a light sport aircraft, of the same philosophy as the real life Just Superstol, so I won't be militarizing this (Also it has no room for troops). Perhaps I'll build another larger bush plane along the lines of an airmail plane, like a Noorduyn Norseman. I played around with a KAX propellor but the smallest engine's cowling is too large for the fuselage on the Junco.

Ooh I'm excited! (Especially for the new medium landing gear - I'm holding off on my Grumman Avenger and P-38 until those arrive, the current mediums are just too big)

Not to mention the new rover wheel physics, oh so much hype :D
