Landing Klaw or Harpoon

It can be really difficult to stick a landing on some of the smaller moons in the Kerbol system. I propose modifying the Advanced Grabbing Unit so it can serve as a means of grabbing the surface to stop a lander on a dime. Like the Millennium Falcon's landing claw in Empire Strikes Back. A harpoon like that little comet probe used would also work.

Like Philae would be a better example, as Star Wars is extremely light on science. 

I agree with you, though. I tried landing on Pol with the klaw, and it simply would not stick.

You mean something like the three harpoons that were supposed to fire when Philae touched down on Rosetta?

The grapplers/winches from the KAS mod might work. I agree, landing on Gilly is as slow as Mystery Goo in January!

I've done this with the winches and harpoons from KAS before and it works quite well, both for keeping the lander on the ground in low gravity and stabilizing unwieldy tall structures. *thunk* *thunk* *thunk* *thunk*  Instant guy wires!

I tried landing with the Klaw a while back on Gilly, and I thought it worked at first, but turns out I'm just really good at landing without landing legs. I agree, the Klaw should be able to grab a planet's surface, and a harpoon part would be nice too.

Agreed, that's always bugged me a little, it does seem very odd that a claw can grab the surface of an asteroid,  but not the surface of a planet or moon.
