Competing programs

I am not aware of any mod that does this, so i am tagging it as a request. 

I recently started watching "Being Kerbal", a YouTube series by Tyler Raiz. I found the idea quite cool, and it got me wondering how I could replicate a similar feeling in my own career. The only way I can think of doing something like that is having competing programs, maybe one run by Jeb and another by Val

I remember reading Squad had discarded this idea, but I have always felt it would be fun. Of course, without multiplayer, it's a bit like playing chess against yourself, but with some rolplaying I think it would be amazing. 

So, to be specific, my request is to have two space programs at Kerbin, with separate funds, science and contracts. Is it possible?

It might be possible to have ships loaded in depending on events, and by the way @tylerraiz is awesome.

I'm not too sure about playing separate careers/contracts against myself. But I would not be opposed to a space race element, having an AI entity across Kerbin pushing my career to match or beat their achievements, while bound to the same starting set of rules.

Would be fun if it also included saving some of their stranded Kerbals sometimes (or having to eat my pride and call them in for assistance, mutter).

Bonus points if end game is something like cooperating for a joint KSS, Duna base, or Jool system stations.

I'd install that mod. Hint hint.

I am working on a mod which is going to do something similar, but it is in really early development, and I'm looking for some crowd sourced scenarios.

Great WIP, Clifton. I would really like to compete agains myself or other humans rather than against AI, but any form of space racing would be awesome.

I think the "Space Race" is such a big part of going to space it's a shame to not include it in someway.

I mean you literally can't discuss space travel future or past without bringing up the differences in Russian/USA technology, progress, methodology, etc...

Career mode doesn't really have much in the way of an antagonist or a driving force to push the player, I think a competing agency on the other side of the planet would really round out the experience and also go a ways towards explaining the rescue contracts you get lol. I'm not asking for anything fancy here, it could really all be done through dialogue boxes and such, just alerting you to when they reached a world milestone first (thereby depriving you of doing it) or little news snippets about their latest launches/failures etc...

That is the plan for my mod, but it's going to be a while before we get there.
