My first Semi-Decent looking Jet

It's a pretty good start, for sure! I'm kind of curious as to why you chose to double up the nose cone and fairing. You can use a fairing to make a custom nose no problem, but using both seems like unnecessary weight.

[edit] OOooooh, it's a parachute, I see. Again, why though? Most planes can land on pretty much any terrain without too much difficulty, unless your glide rating is in the pits. What was your reasoning behind that?

I'd move the rear landing gear as close as possible to the CoM, and make sure to empty the tanks to see if it can still land on empty.

@Red Dwarf There's a decoupler on the other end of the cockpit. Its an ejection seat.

Also on the topic of that ejector, I'd rig engine shutoff and the decoupling to the Abort (backspace default) action group, and rig up some separatrons to slow the fuselage, and propel the cockpit in what is hopefully upwards. If you're like me, that ejection seat only gets used when you're about to smash into something, a chute placed like that will just press your poor pilot deep into the fuselage of the plane.

No, it's a valid idea, you could achieve the same with a couple of decouplers and a clipped radial chute, it would not show at all then and you could use a normal nose cone, still the fairing is good for going fast apparently. The Big's S wings you are using are for shuttles and are probably heavier and providing much more lift/drag than you need, some smaller deltas should be enough for your craft.

If you have the offset mod, you could replace that big ugly decoupler with a small 0.625m separator and offset it into the fuselage behind the cockpit, then move the cockpit so it is flush with the rest of the fuselage. It will look like there isn't even a decoupler there, and I see no reason why it shouldn't still work

you don't really need the offset mod to do this, stock should work just fine.
