Steam Game Will Not Update

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I haven't played this game in a very long time and decided to start it up again today. Steam said the game was up-to-date but when I start it up the version is v0.90.705 Beta. I went to my Steam library and deleted all game files. I then went to the Kerbal directory in explorer and deleted the folder so nothing was left behind. I then rebooted, opened Steam and told it to reinstall Kerbal. After install the game is still on v0.90.705 Beta.

Does anyone know how to get this up to the current version? I tried to contact Steam support but it keeps telling me to contact Squad.

How does one install updates on Steam? I have some problems with maneuver nodes and wanted to update to see if that would fix them.

Updates will download and install automatically with Steam. However, I don't think you want an update to your current game.

If you're having problems that you think will be solved by having Steam re-do your KSP install, you have two options:

  1. Verify Integrity of Game Cache.  Do this by right clicking on KSP in your library, selecting "Properties" -> "Local Files" tab -> "Verify Integrity of Game Cache."  This will have Steam check the files that are on your computer against the ones that Steam has on file, and will replace any files that are missing or messed up.
  2. Uninstall and re-install KSP. Again right click on KSP in your library, but this time select "Delete Local Content" -> "Delete."  This will uninstall KSP as far as Steam is concerned, but there will still be some files left. If you want a truly clean install, it's best to manually delete those as well. If you're not sure where your Steam games are actually located on your computer, you can find them by right clicking any other game in your library (not KSP, you just uninstalled it) and going to "Properties" -> "Local Files" tab -> "Browse Local Files."  Then go up one level, and you'll see all your Steam games listed there. Delete the KSP folder. Then go back to Steam and install KSP again.

My Readme.txt says i'm running on version 1.0.5 and i saw a post on the forum for version 1.0.8 so i thought if i could just update my version it could fix the problem.

There's no official release after KSP 1.0.5 and until KSP 1.1 - and that includes all the test builds Squad produced internally. I'd be wary about anything like that version 1.0.8 you read about, seems like a way to entice players to install unofficial and probably malware-ridden software.
