UltraWide 21:9 monitors to play KSP?

On Monday I'm buying a new monitor. I want to get a ultrawide monitor but I need to know how it is with KSP. Can anyone recommend it?

I don't have an ultra-wide monitor but my immediate thoughts are:

Pros:

Do you play in cockpit mode a lot? If so, I imagine it would look awesome.

Unlike most games KSP's slowdowns come from Physics mostly, so while giving a wider screen will improve graphics, it shouldn't (I think) reduce speed all that much if at all.

Cons:

Ui Scaling is certainly an issue for most larger resolutions, though not sure how ultra-wide will work.

The only time I've ever wished I'd had a wider view is in the SPH.

Take care if your running in opengl mode. Depending on your graphics card you might be limited to certain resolutions. I can't go full screen without black screen of death. However I do think that when version 1.1 hits. The memory problems that force the use of opengl mode will be a thing of the past.

I guess you could just play in windowed mode if it won't play nice with your monitor .

Probably your game will work better in Windowed mode, until the UI scaling issues are solved.

Having more screen room for my Kerbal Engineer Redux windows and better SPH viewing was the my main thoughts for the ultrawide monitor. Thanks guys

The biggest problem with a widescreen monitor (in my mind) is that most stuff in KSP is vertical, like rockets.  I use a 1280 X 1024 monitor, which is very nice in the VAB.  However, you could possibly rotate the monitor 90 degrees.

How's the big monitor work out? KSP stretches out things at the edge of the screen. Does this get really annoying as you go further to the sides?
