Weird Text with DX11

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I have a problem with my version of KSP on my Laptop. When i use -force-d3d11 - which i need because the game starts to crash without - the text e.g. in the mission control becomes weird and it's hard to read that text. It works absolutly fine on my Gaming-PC. My gaming PC has an AMD graphicscard and my Laptop a Nvidia graphicscard. So could there be an issue with the current Nvidia driver? It also happens when i remove all my mods...

This is indeed caused by D3D11, which Unity 4.x has issues with. It doesn't support D3D12 at all. You could try OpenGL, but that leaves you with transparency issues. D3D9 is the default that won't work well for mod-heavy Windows installs.

My solution is to wait for 1.1. Really. Watch weekly progress reports published on "Tuesdays" at the Kerbal Space Program Blog (the last several Tuesday updates have been delayed by a day or so).

haha, i meant an @Speadge in this case so i get notified about u answering :D

the @MathiLpHD was just an example.

About your problem. I remember it from my nvidia as well. There were several adjustments i did within the driver config, but as well in the desktop link.
So the best start would be trying to "disable DPI scaling" in the link to your ksp.exe (compatibility tab in link-properties.)

Please give feedback how it worked out.

@Speadge

Sorry XD I thought that would be a marker to mark my comments as new content from the thread creator or something like that XD

Creating a shortcut and disable DPI scaling works. But i usually start ksp with steam and directly changing the settings of the KSP.exe doesn't work with steam. So is there a way to do the same thing with steam? For example add something to the start parameters?

And sorry for my bad english XD

Update:

Directly starting ksp.exe with disabled DPI scaling works. So is it possible that steam starts its games over a link which doesn't have "Disable DPI scaling" activated?

Okay. I made a mistake. I didn't add -force-d3d11 to the link... I tried to open the link with -force-d3d11 and it's still the same problem...

well, did u try etting visual data within the nvidia control-panel?

i did set several data there. might as well be since then that i havent those problems anymore

yop.

u can edit those setting for each exe individually.

in antialiasing-transparency u can chosse "supersampling" which will make this weird text disappear.

Yes, it does. Multisampling doesn't fix it, and makes some things look worse, but a quick check shows 2x supersampling cleans up the text. Didn't look at 4x or 8x.
