Challenge: Speed Demon

       How fast can you de-orbit and land back at the VAB/Launch Pad. Prizes for the top 3

                                                                                                                                        Do you think you have what it takes?

Rules:

1. AP and PA must be between 90-100KM
2. Must be in orbit around Kerbin
3. No Time Warping
4. Must Land on the VAB roof or the launch pad
5. Must be done in 10 minutes
6. No Cheats

 

Rule explanation:

• Your orbit can be between 90-100km PA/AP Pretty self explanatory
• This challenge is only allowed to be done over Kerbin
• Your 10  minute countdown begins when you start your deorbit burn. and it must be 10 minutes mission/game time, so time/physics warping would probably be a bad idea
• Anyone can land anywhere under 10 minutes, but, to make this a bigger challenge and an achievement, you must land either on top of the VAB or the launch pad
• From the minute you make your de orbital burn, that's when your 10 minute countdown starts from your MET, so it's 10 minutes game time
• Cheating: no unlimited fuel, no unlimited charge, no unlimited RCS etc. NO cheating is allowed or it wouldn't be a challenge, now would it?

• [Side Rule/Note] Only 1 de orbit burn is allowed

 

Tips & Hints:

• You can quicksave just before your deorbit burn, this makes restarting the challenge a little less tedious
• You're gonna be coming down pretty fast, so a good heat shield will help you not.....die
• Air brakes if placed correctly are more efficient than drag chutes
• Parachutes and drogue chutes aren't the best idea, a couple of drag chutes will help
• Jumping out the craft IS an option
• Failure IS an option
• Sepratron are probably the best for de-orbiting burns and saving time, if you do the maths
• Dying will fail the challenge
• Mods are accepted
• If you do decide to jump out, take note of the crafts MET before you jump out, then add the kerbals EVA to the crafts MET time

Rule 4: you can also land at the Launchpad too, I dunno, blame ZooNamedGames
rule 5: that's what makes it fun, trust me it's not that hard

also

rule 5. anyone can de orbit, that's no challenge, re-entry isn't THAT hard, doing it in 10 minutes is somewhat challenging
rule 4. landing on the VAB roof is challenging on it's own, but to make it more fun than just deorbiting in 10 minutes, you're given more of a challenge by having to deorbit from 100km-ish and landing back at the VAB roof. either way it's fun.

IF your saying rule 4 and 5 was taken out then all you're doing is deorbiting like you normally would, where is the challenge in that?

you're not being asked to take off, get into a 100km x 100km ish orbit, circle kerbin, THEN deorbit and land on the VAB roof or Launchpad. Of course thats impossible to do all in 10 minutes, your 10 minute countdown starts the moment you make your burn to deorbit, at least I assume it would, again I don't know, I didn't make the rules, my bud ZooNamedGames told me the rules, I'm not sure if it was him the made the rules up or what, but I enjoyed the challenge
