That was coming. As soon as they cut out the junior Busters, you knew the end was near. My guess it that the popularity is not quite as big as it used to and that the network cut back budget. This might have caused the crew to throw in the towel too, as you can only do the same thing so long and having to go against the flow is no fun.

Edit: it looks like that is exactly what happened.
