why is the forum so quiet?

I expected pictures and videos and threads about ksp 1.1 flooded into this forum, but that's not the case..

is there some kind of NDA?

That's a safe assumption.

Pictures and video's are very rare during experimentals. Any images at that time usually come directly from SQUAD.
About a week before release the media group (a select few streamers and youtubers) get access and the first video's will show up. But it would not surprise me if even those people are limited in what the can and can not show.

It's been quite busy here in the last couple of days, but Sundays often have a bit of a lull I've noticed.  And I think the 1.1 opt in thread and the hype thread have taken most of the pre 1.1 talk.  But IIRC the experimentals group are under an NDA so don't expect any sneak peaks from them, and  the 1.1 pre-release isn't available yet so there aren't any user pics of it yet.  

Personally I think that those who take part in testing the 1.1 pre-release should keep 1.1 chatter to a minimum on here out of respect for everyone else (and there will be a 1.1 forum for that anyway).

Meh. The reason there's not a flood of threads is because there's a rule about asking for release dates, and all the discussion usually takes place on the devblogs or in the hypetrain threads, it's not all that unusual.

Experimental testers are under NDA and cannot share information about the versions they're testing. Same with media people who have early access, they can't release anything until Squad gives them the OK.

This go around is a bit different, the public prerelease testers are not NDAed so I'd imagine we'll see a lot of content from them once it enters that phase.
