Do you mean 1.0.5 (the current KSP version)?  Or do you actually, specifically mean 1.0.4, i.e. you're running on an older version?

It's a very important question, because water physics got a major overhaul in 1.0.5.  In 1.0.5 it's easy to make super-fast speedboats; in 1.0.4 you'd be running up against clunky water physics.

im running on 1.0.4(my mods havent been updated for 1.0.5 yet)

Really?  Are you sure they don't work, have you tried them?  Just because a mod says "1.0.4" doesn't mean that it won't work just fine in 1.0.5; that just means that the author hasn't bothered to update the version label.

1.0.5 left most of the game's internals alone; it wasn't a severe "mod-breaking" update.  I'm running plenty of mods that all say 1.0.4 on them, and without exception they all run just fine on 1.0.5.

So if you've tried 'em and you know they don't work in 1.0.5, then fine... otherwise, I'd really advise upgrading to 1.0.5, especially if you like doing stuff in the water.  1.0.5 does for water physics what 1.0 was for aerodynamics.  It's a whole new world for playing around in the water.  You can easily build fast speedboats and all sorts of waterborne contraptions.

If you're sticking with 1.0.4, you're going to have trouble with fast speedboats-- not because your intakes don't like you, but because the water doesn't.  Seriously, move to 1.0.5.
