stock rotating vtol- no finnicky gear hinges!

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Today i cooked something up that i'm kinda proud of:

It's a stock rotating VTOL, utilising the free pivot mode on the claw. This means that the whole thing is one craft, so you can time warp it with no risk of clipping. You could theoretically fly it to another planet if you wanted.

It's still in its earliest stages. it's very floppy and only has about 30 seconds of flight time since the claw disallows fuel crossfeed. So i hope to work on it further, maybe even make it an ssto. I shall post progress here.

Oh, and ill put a download link up if requested, so people can tinker around with it on their own.

Okay then!

Here is the dropbox link to the SSTO version:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/sxqyz84n8dgd9e6/vtol%20mk3.craft?dl=0

And here's a quick guide on how to use it:

1-let the back fall down and stop wobbling

2-set throttle to 0, and press space twice. If the engines don't attach to the body immediately, revert to launch and try again. This happens sometimes just because of claw derp

3-unfortunately you can't assign action groups to lock/release claw pivots, so you'll have to do that manually with right-click. When you're ready to launch, just lock the claw in place and throttle up.

Hope you like it :)

A claw? The Claw is an infamous troublemaker.

I haven't found that at all. Aside from some times when it doesn't connect immediately, and Danny2462's exploitation of it to destroy the solar system (which is arguably the most reliable way to destroy the solar system i've seen), the claw seems relatively bug-free. I've never gotten what the fuss was about.
