Time Tripping

(scenario) you've got a rocket out on the pad, First stage, LFO's of some sort, You launch, and don't like the throttle you started with. You revert, to adjust the throttle. You appear back on the pad to witness smoke and clouds (from your last launch) which really shouldn't have existed yet. ,,,what?!?  Just wondering.

Because time doesn't pass in the VAB, if you revert flight the launch smoke will still be there when you get back, because technically no time has passed for it to dissipate. I don't think this happens with regular explosions though, but I know what you're talking about. It happens with revert to launch and revert to VAB. It might do it with Space Center too, but you might not be able to do it quick enough sometimes.

Reminds me of a time when we didn't have the revert option, and there being the possibility of having debris raining down on the launchpad just as you bring out your improved rocket.  It was definitely a lesson on why you start your gravity turn almost right off the pad.

I had that happen last night. Along with my rocket floating horizontally just above the launchpad.

I'm guessing what happens is that animated effects don't care about actual simulation time, and once spawned, will play until they complete. The cleanup script that clears away parts and vessels when rewinding time for a revert probably doesn't bother to remove the smoke effects, since they'll go away when they're done playing anyway.
