Career Grand Finale

When i got KSP on version 0.24, i started one career save and i have been playing it since then. Now, after 70 years of exploration, three planets are yet to be visited by manned missions: Eve, Moho and Eeloo.

With the release of version 1.1 getting closer and closer, i decided that i would start a new career game when it comes out. And that's why i decided to finish my old career game with a Grand Finale: sending kerbals to those last 3 bodies and taking them back home. And then showing off on this forum.

Ok, here's the plan:

1)Valentina will go to Eve alone on the Dante mission and spend almost two years refueling there and on Gilly;

2)Meanwhile, Jeb, Bill, Bob and Teduki will go to Moho on the Icarus mission and spend a little less than one year refuelling there;

3)When Dante and Icarus come back home, the four Orange Suits will go to Eeloo on the Odissey mission;

4)The Kerbals will have explored all bodies on the kerbolar system;

5)...

6) 1.1 is released!

STEP 1: Dante, a mission to hell Eve

Ok, i just uploaded the screenshots of Icarus. As i'm not very good at writing stories, i decided that i'll just change the Imgur descriptions of some images when i come up with ideas.

It's going to take a while before i post the Odissey report because i'm still working on that mission. Meanwhile, here's step 2:

STEP 2: Icarus, a tribute to the radiators mission to Moho

And now, the "Finale" part of this thread's title:

STEP 3: Odissey, a mission to the middle of nowhere Eeloo

And that concludes my Career Grand Finale!

Oh, wait! Here are the following steps in a compressed manner:

STEPS 4,5 AND 6: TAKING THE 1.1 HYPE TRAIN!

Thanks!

I'm planning to use a planets mod on my future 1.1 save. The stock solar system became too small for me.

But which should i use? Kopernicus? Outer Planets? Any suggestions?

I always go for Outer Planets Mod it blends better with the game in my opinion. Kopernicus is not actually a planetary mod but a system modifier which basically every planetary mod uses. Anyway if you look for a stockalike system similar to our solar system, then I suggest you to use Outer Planets Mod with Transkeptunian Objects for outer dwarf planets  and Custom Asteroids for asteroids and comets close to the orbit of Jool.

Well, Kopernicus is required to add other planets but it's like ModuleManager, an enabler rather than a thing unto itself.  So then it's just down to choosing what planet mod(s) you want to add to your game. Each new planet adds to the load on your system but 1.1 is just around the corner so that won't be an issue in the very near future.  Thus, it's all down to how much you're driven to go to some mod-added planet for its own worth versus what you tolerate in terms of Kepler's laws.  The stock KSP solar system is very Keplerian but most planet-adding mods don't take his laws into account.

One of the few Kepler-friendly planet-adding mods is OPM.  And I can't applaud it enough, especially with the tweaks provided by @Sigma88,  Plus, OPM is under active development by a committed team so I expect it to be around for a while and ultimately to become stock.  If it doesn't, that's a huge loss to KSP.  So get there while it's still a novelty :).  You'll get 4 totally new planetary systems to explore, all based on real analogs, yet still preserving stock-like aesthetics.

Thanks for the replies! I didn't know Kopernicus was a mod enabler. I'll do a more detailed search, but i think Outer Planets is my thing.

And, yeah, stock KSP really needs at least one new gas giant with many moons. In fact, the reason I'm getting OPM is because i got tired of waiting for the GP2 (i later found that it wasn't even planned for future versions:P)

Folks have gone wild with Kopernicus, not just adding new planets to the existing solar system, but making entirely new systems.  Normally, those replace the stock system, but another of Sigma88's mod enhancements called "Galactic Neighborhood" IIRC puts quite a few of these  system-wide mods in the actual sky as separate entities.  Thus, you can actually use interstellar propulsion to take interstellar trips instead of just shortening the travel time to Jool.  I might end up doing that at some point, once I have some confidence that the game won't have a breaking update for a very long time, but not now.

OPM definitely fills that void.  Sarnus and Urlum are 2 very well-developed systems which should keep you busy for quite a while.  Neidon and Plock are still somewhat in the WIP stage at present (or so it seems), but by the time you've done Sarnus and Urlum a couple times each (which will take a while), maybe these will be further along.
