Platform-O TEL Prototype

I've been pretty busy with my life recently, and I'll be even more preoccupied in the coming months. So, don't expect too many updates after this brief period.

 

The Topol-M TEL is not based on the Platform-O, but Kazam's new vehicle looks pretty similar.

 

 

My new TEL platform is something of a hybrid. I'll need to beef up the axels and structure a bit if I want to accommodate larger missiles in the future.

 

Operation instructions: (This is only with the "dud" missile payload I included. I can integrate other payloads on request.)

1. Get your TEL is parked on a flat, stable surface. Make sure the brakes, landing legs, SAS, and max throttle are all toggled. ! DO NOT TOGGLE RCS AT THIS POINT. ALSO, DO NOT FORGET TO LOWER THE TWO LANDING LEGS ON THE MISSILE MODULE. !

2. Stage and switch to your missile. ! ONCE YOUR MISSILE REACHES THE 40 DEGREE DEMARCATION ON THE GIMBLE, TOGGLE RCS AND PITCH DOWN. YOU SHOULD BE FAIRLY AGGRESSIVE WITH THE STABILIZATION MANEUVER. !

3. Pitch down until the missile is stable. She'll fight you a bit, but it'll stabilize if you used the RCS pitch down early enough.

4. Leave the missile alone to stabilize itself for a little while after it is vertically erect. Once it stops moving and stays that way for a while, stage to rid your missile of the stabilizer modules and to allow for static stabilization.

5. Wait until you feel like staging, then switch to the missile in flight.

6. Go back to the VAB or SPH and shoot me whatever payload you think would make a good fit on the TEL.

 

Driving restrictions:

Similar to the actual ICBM TEL's, this thing weighs a lot (about 81.1 tons), and must be driven with care.

The restrictions are as follows:

1. Do not turn at over 7 m/s. You can get away with a little above it, but I haven't tested it at those speeds.

2. Do not crest downhill or uphill obstacles at over 6 m/s.

3. Do not brake at over 6 m/s.

4. Do not drive like it's a sports car. Just don't.
