is large electrics in the tech tree, as a part uses it in remote tech and I can't find it?

That node existed before 1.0, but was renamed or replaced. It no longer exists.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but just getting the obvious out of the way. 

Are you sure you're using the most up-to-date versions of all your mods (and KSP, for that matter)?

I think yes, I looked to see if other remote tech parts were there and they are.
