What do those mods do?

RPM adds a lot of KER-like functions to IVA. Vesselviewer allows you to view the vessel, and integrates with RPM to allow you to see your vessel in IVA. If you don't get what I'm saying, look up the mods.

RPM is fine. I don't know about Vesselviewer, because the whole point of the challenge is to do it in IVA the whole time. However, if you use it for seeing if what blew up, then sure.

How about KER, Docking Port Alignment Indicator (Self explainative), Telemarchus, kRPC, KSPSerialIO (All of which gives telemetry to external devices and allows external commands)?

I guess the fixed hull cams from RPM are right out, they are a gamechanger as well. But given those, docking in IVA is a breeze.

Well that was a fun first challenge to try. I've been playing RSS recently so if my rocket + burns look way off...sorry.
Anyway, Jeb went on a vacation first to orbit, then the mun's orbit, then landed on the mun and then back to Kerbin.
My math puts me at:

SL easy mode: 10
Landed it: 5
Returned to Kerbin: 10

A healthy 25 points to start us off. Easy to beat.

A simple but interesting challenge.  I had completed it in an hour, making some errors (ain't done rockets in a while).  However, because I made some errors, I had to reload from quicksaves.  Unfortunately the game puts you in 3rd person automatically, and it takes a second to get back into IVA, though apart from that, and when I landed to get out, I stayed to the rules (at one point I accidentally hit the "c" key, but I reloaded a quick save to refrain from breaking the rules).  I did a flight to Minmus landed then back to Kerbin and landed, 35 points.  Challenge actually starts in video at 8:12.

Pros

  • Challenge was fun, but not to difficult.
  • The challenge provided a new perspective to KSP flights.

Cons

  • The challenge was a little easier then I had expected it to be.
  • The majority of the challenge, given the rules, was spent in the map view.

How can this challenge be improved?

  • Add more rules to make it more difficult, such as no checkpoints, or the Mun or Minmus and back to Kerbin being the easiest, etc.

Final Score

7.5/10
