More than 2000 hours in and I still play stock. Visual mods however are mandatory in my book. And having said that Squad have said they will look into making stock KSP a little less ugly.

Meanwhile I feel the exact opposite - I won't let visual mods anywhere near my KSP install. I'd like to run them, but I feel the game performs terribly enough as it is, I can't afford to make it worse.
