Trev's Quality Craft Repository

Recommended Posts

I have decided to make a thread where you can view all of my craft (except a few early ones that either don't work anymore or didn't get enough attention) in a single place, organized by type. Most of these craft are stock, however the ones that contain modded parts will be marked as such. This is also the place to submit requests for a particular craft you might want to see me make (please be reasonable).

Aircraft

Spoiler

gAAW4O0.png

Here is my favorite plane of all time rendered in Kerbal Space Program. It is the most maneuverable aircraft I have ever produced, and its part count is low enough for even the worst computers to fly it relatively lag free.

nQpALEw.png

The Bristol Boxkite was one of the first aircraft to be mass produced, and many WWI pilots learned to fly on this machine. Thanks to a revolutionary technique of building frames out of struts, this plane is both pretty and economical! If you love pre-WWI planes, this is for you!

The P-26 was hopelessly obsolete by the outbreak of World War II, but it played a vital role in the interwar years helping train America's airmen and prepare them for the air wars in Europe and the pacific. My replica features a small bomb underneath the fuselage, in case you really want to kill something with it.

This glider is based on the Bristol Boxkite listed above (actually the glider came first, but that's a story for a different time). It is towed to altitude by a modified airliner and then released. It can then glide back down to the ground for a soft landing. Due to its lightweight construction, it is a very good glider, and can float along for a considerable distance before landing. [THIS CRAFT REQUIRES THE KAS MOD]

The AH-1 Cobra was introduced in 1967 as a ground attack/escort helicopter during the Vietnam War and was used by the United States and several other nations until the late 1990s. [CRAFT REQUIRES BD ARMORY AND KAX MODS]

Spacecraft

Spoiler

QJFQotS.png

This little pack is ideal for exploring the flats of Minmus, the mountains of the Mun, or the vast emptiness of space. On the Mun it may be good for little more than short distance hops, (from one side of a crater to the other, for example), but on Minmus the Dragonfly becomes an extremely capable long distance exploration tool, with the ability to travel dozens of kilometers in a remarkably short time. Although it may be bulky for an MMU, it can also serve aboard an orbiting space station, overseeing repairs or simply giving the crew something to do during their long stay. Whatever the purpose, the Dragonfly will deliver!

6SFuIj1.png

This V-Wing was intended mostly as a "display piece", in that it is incapable of travelling very far or very long on its own power. However, i have also constructed a hyperdrive ring that extends the fighter's range to Minmus or beyond. Although this ship cannot fly in the atmosphere, it is perfect for use aboard a space carrier or orbital station (rejoice, ye military ship fans). With a low part count, sleek looks, and a set of funtioning S-foils, this fighter is perfect for any Star Wars fan (unless... you know... you don't like the prequels or something)

EKN3QF8.pngRPKPVDP.pngThis one gets two pictures because it's special.

This pack recreates the proposed mission to return to the Moon with Project Constellation. It currently contains Orion, Altair and its cargo variant, Ares I, and Ares V. The Mars mission portion of the program is currently under development. The part count on these craft may be a little high for some lower end computers (but with Unity 5, you never really know), but the amount of detail in these craft is high. Flying this mission will require a good working knowledge of rendezvous, docking, targeted landing on the Mun, and how to not flip a rover over while driving.

Watercraft

Spoiler

IZa9694.jpg

This is a replica of the famous Typhoon missile submarine used by the Soviet Union from the 1980s to the 2000s. The Typhoon is the largest submarine ever built and was the basis for the submarine Red October in Tom Clancy's novel, The Hunt for Red October. Unfortunately, this craft was made before the buoyancy overhaul, and therefore its performance in the modern game is unknown. Its age also means it is incapable of diving, as moving under the surface was extremely difficult when this craft was made, and because of this I decided to make this craft as a "display piece". The submarine features eight missiles in separate tubes, which can be fired and guided to a target of your choice. There is also a small interior inside the sub to make up for it being incapable of diving.

yRoHnWZ.pngidN4oas.png4essZSN.pngThree images because super special.

This U-boat is my most famous craft to date, and has been called a legend by several people. Like the Typhoon before it, it is incapable of diving and was made before the buoyancy overahul, however it features a complete interior based on the inside of a Type VII U-boat from World War II. You can explore every room in the submarine, climb to the top of the conning tower, and walk along the deck and pretend to fire the flak cannon or the deck gun. This craft is the biggest I've ever made, with over 860 parts, so I wouldn't recommend trying to run this if your computer can barely run stock KSP.

20Ewjf9.jpg

You know, there doesn't seem to be a big audience for Victorian Era replicas on this forum, but that didn't stop me from making recreations of the first two ironclads to battle each other; USS Monitor and CSS Virginia. These craft both feature working cannons (well... missiles mounted where the cannons were), and Monitor features a rotating turret.

KBnALWq.jpg

The Gato class submarine formed the backbone of the US submarine fleet during WWII, and was almost single-handedly responsible for starving Japan out of WWII with the destruction of its merchant fleet and the blockading of its supply routes. Thanks to the buoyancy overhaul, my Gato is the closest I've ever come to making a dive-capable submarine, and it is capable of making a decent speed on the water! The deck can be accessed by Kerbals, and the conning tower features two AA guns, three lookout stations, and two functioning periscopes.

h9U7zcq.png

A sequel of sorts to my popular U-boat. This edition features a more accurate shape, lower parts, and the ability to dive and surface at will. Although it lacks an interior, it looks almost exactly like a real Type VIIC U-boat, and is much more practical than its predecessor.

Miscellaneous

Spoiler

The trebuchet was the largest, most powerful siege weapon of the Middle Ages, and was capable of lobbing projectiles weighing hundreds of pounds enormously long distances. My trebuchet works just like a real one, and can launch a Stayputnik probe core a respectable distance using only the power of physics. [THIS CRAFT REQUIRES THE KAS MOD]

This "craft" exists solely because I asked for an idea for something to build one time and the only reply to my question was "cookies". I immediately set to work on building a giant cookie sheet, mixing bowl, and spatula to fulfill the request. Amazingly, the thread I made for this received enough attention for me to consider listing it here.

Work-In-Progress

Spoiler

This section contains previews of craft I currently am working on. These craft are not ready for release, and may be delayed, postponed, or altogether cancelled if necessary.

Saturn I

Spoiler

This section contains craft that I began but never finished, either due to technical issues, design difficulties or disenchantment with the craft. They don't have their own thread, although if people wish it I would be willing to finishing any of the craft here sometime in the future.

I Take Requests!

If you have an idea for something you want to see me build, by all means, please submit it. Sometimes I am at a loss for what to do next, and any ideas from the community will be greatly appreciated. Please be reasonable with your ideas, and don't ask me to build something you know full well I cannot complete. I place myself under no obligation to fulfill any request, and reserve the right to decline any request I wish. I will complete a craft request when and if I have the time to do so, and I will not guarantee a definite completion date for any craft.

Just because I have all this fine print doesn't mean I will decline every request I get. If you have an idea and you aren't sure if I will accept, please submit it anyway.

If you download a craft and you notice an issue with it or it doesn't work properly, please let me know. I will take a look at it myself and attempt to correct the problem.

I suggest updating it every 2-3 vehicles, or when you add something of high significance that doesn't have it's own thread, otherwise, people MAY be annoyed, I don't, I love your stuff!

However, I did notice when I was doing the same thing that people REALLY didn't seem to like me for it, or something, so just an ahead of time warning! :)

I only release a craft every two or three weeks anyway, since I have so many other games I like to play besides KSP, so updates won't happen very often.

I'll consider it, but it's not what I usually do.

Still, I'll consider it.

You did the AH-1, it's not like that's vintage... Just give it a go.

I would counter that an obsolete attack helicopter that entered service in 1967 is definitely more "vintage" than a supersonic jet fighter that entered service in 1974 *citation needed* and remains in active service today, but an argument over the definition of a word in my rank which I was considering changing anyway won't solve anything.

I did start on a prototype to see if it would be something I could build to the same standard as my other craft, it's proving to be quite frustrating. The biggest roadblock is the size of the air intakes. 1.25 meters is too big, but 0.625 meters is way to small.

I'll keep working on it, after all, solving practical problems is what engineers are paid to do, but be warned that there is a small chance that you may possibly have to consider the likelihood of you accepting a compromise.

How about some historic planes like Nieuport 17, Fairey Swordfish I, Tupolev ANT-20, k7 plane?

I already have a Fairey Swordfish, but it doesn't have its own thread. I'll take a look at the other planes, although the sheer size of the ANT-20 will possibly make it difficult to do.

EDIT: Here's the Swordfish I have now. I believe it requires BD armory to run, but its torpedo can really mess up a stock ship.

Gimmie.

Oh. Well... That is... definitely something...

I guess it certifies as a vintage plane, and considering that it looks like a KSP noob design, it shouldn't be too hard to make. I'll see what I can do. I will need the plane's name so I can gather information about it.

Your new MiG-15 and F-86 both look rather like replicas of the Saab 29 than the Korean war fighters

At this point I'm not even sure if I'm going to finish those, work on them has been stalled for some time now.

Maybe it's time I update the WIP section.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
