Do the invisible mountains on Pol still exist?

Nobody has really gone to Pol recently, as far as I know. Anyone who has been to Jool before has probably tried to get to Pol, and Pol is unremarkable, so once you've been there, there really isn't a good reason to return. Therefore most people haven't been to Pol in a while and won't know the mountains' status as of 1.1.x.

I like Pol. It is - wait, why do I like it again? Probably because of the epic sharp mountains and interesting ground scatter. It is the true lair of the Kraken. Many strange things happen there. Teleporting flags, invisible mountains, seemingly sideways gravity, you name it. However, I did not notice any of this on my one mission to Pol so far. To avoid the invisible mountains, if they still exist, don't land near spiky mountains. Try to find a spot that is flat.

EDIT: As for your contract, I wouldn't worry about the bugs. Just quicksave before deorbiting and you should be fine.

Pol has invisible mountains?!? That's a strangely unbalanced gameplay mechanic, even for SQUAD.

It's not a deliberate 'feature', it's a bug that causes your ship to crash into the terrain when still very high above it.  I haven't been there recently so haven't encountered it and can't give any more details.

I got a contract for Science data from surface of Pol, but that made me remember that weird bug where there were invisible mountains on it's surface. Does anyone know if these still exist?

'They' still exist. Since this Bug exists Years you can admit that this will surely never be fixed. see it as a feature.

I did some testing on Pol in 1.0.5 to know what kept blowing my landers up since 0.24. It turns out, they are not "invisible mountains", but "invisible normal ground". At a certain altitude from... er... "sea" level, there is a collision box that KER recognizes as the ground, even though you can see the real ground a thousand meters under you. That always happens on the lowlands, but never happens on the highlands because they are above that altitude. If you land very slowly (<7 m/s) on that "ground" you will simply go through it like nothing happened and you can land safely on the "real" ground. Basically, if you really want to land on Pol's lowlands (and some parts of the midlands) you have to land twice.

It's such an absurd and obvious bug that i wonder why it hasn't been corrected before. It seems like "Pol is the new Dres" :P

Ahhh, I see. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. :)
