Handley Page Victor B.2 replica

Recommended Posts

This is a project i was supposed to do a long time ago for my RAF jet replica repository, but never got around to it, until now.

A little history:

The Victor was the third and last of the British V-bombers that made up their nuclear deterrent. Victor's turned out to be the most capable of the bunch giving it a service life of 35 years.

As a nuclear bomber, the Victor was used for less than 10 years due to fatigue cracks caused by low level flying, witch was Britain way of avoiding interception.

After that, most of the remaining bomber where converted to flying tankers witch is a job they did brilliantly.

Propably their most famous operation was, the Black Buck raid in witch 11 Victor tankers where used to escort a single Vulcan to Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands where it would bomb it's runway.

Design:

I did something a little different with this one, i made the wings properly realistic. They are thick from the root where the engines and intakes are, and gets thinner towards the tip. It does not look perfect, but looks a lot better than just having flat wings with a couple tubes glued on to it.

And while i was designin the fuselage, i noticed that just how perfectly i was able to replicate it without having to use any fairings. All the fuel-tanks had a perfect shape.

I wanted to try and make an indented section for where the missile sits under the fuselage, but i taught it would have been a bit of a waste of parts since i couldn't have used MK-3 parts to make it.

I instead just put regular MK-3 cargo-bays. It also gives more flexibility in terms of arming the thing.

Specs and picks:

Top speed: 100-110 m/s

Stall speed: 60 m/s

Length: 44.5m

Wingspan: 51.3m

Height: 11.6m

Mass: 143000 tons

Parts: 473

The Victor stays under control and is a pleasant thing to fly, but as you would expect is a bit slow/sluggish, so no stunt flying with this one.

This MIGHT be caused by the fact that the Victor is loaded wit almost 10000 units of fuel, so don't expect to run out of fuel anytime soon.

That's about it for this one, i hope you enjoy it :).
