No dark energy

I am taxpayer and i have some experience in live,

A friend mentioned once that photons "may decay after a random time/distance travelled" (also guesswork, sure, like dark matter/energy), the fact that massless ("m-a-s-s-l-e-s-s") photons are affected double as much by gravity (from large "mass") than actual physics predicts and bend spacetime themself, still doesn`t fit somehow

you pay taxes and a friend told you something, so it must be a fact!

Still, no offense to anyone posting here.

I never claimed that actual GUT theory is wrong, btw. Read again?

At least the photon bit is not true, photons have both energy and momentum. if a photon spontaneously decay there is nothing to carry the momentum forward nor the mass that would have to be created. Two photons can collide dead on and cancel each others momentum creating a particle that converts energy to mass, but the odds of two photons having the right amount of energy and momentum that it can happen is appreciably rare, so rare in fact that its only believed to have happened in the very earliest moments of the universe, niether a situation that is observed or can be implicitly confirmed.

None of us mean any offense to you either. Just pointing out that this kind of reasoning is poisonous to society. If you want to check that experts are really experts and aren't just making stuff up, you need to spend a lot of time learning the theory and understanding what they are actually doing. If you aren't going to do that, any statement to the effect, "What do they know?" is bad for absolutely everyone. It's bad for scientific community, because we get less funding. And it's bad for the rest of society because they don't get the benefits of research that funding was going to get.

To come up with half-cocked claims is of course an offence to all those who dedicate their work to serious findings, so i can understand you guys perfectly. I too have my hobbyhorse and this is in some areas subject to heavy debate, even religious.

But then again, this is a game forum and games are played by ... well gamers and not every gamer has a reasonable educational level. Another problem is that many people see wikipedia as the last resort of knowledge, which is *not* the case, everyone can write in there, you get my drift.

I do hope that noone decides over fundings based on posts in a game forum and i do hope that people from the scientific community are clever enough to distinguish between the fools and the wise and we all know it's easy to make a fool out of a wise.

My knowledge of this subject is very limited, i read some excerpts once every few weeks but they are very cursory. So if you could provide me with the current views you have the chance of making the one or the other fool a little wiser. I'm sorry, but i don't see another way.

:-)
