Change kerbal behavior then hitting stuff?

Recommended Posts

An kerbal who hit ground or other stuff hard is knocked out, this makes sense.
Right now it looks like its inverse with surface gravity. on kerbin they can fall 10 meter and stand right up, on Gilly they tend to float around like idiots for a minute after hitting something.
Why is this so? No issue that kerbals get an timeout after hitting something and this might also be longer in freefall but not like now then its faster to go to spaceport and back to the kerbal than waiting.

That's not inverse gravity, that's how gravity works. Gilly's surface gravity is 0.049 m/s^2. Escape velocity is a mere burst of RCS away. It takes a long time to settle back to the ground because you're only gaining 5cm/s of velocity every second. Say you jump with an initial vertical velocity of 5m/s. You'd reach a height of 255m, and take 3 minutes and 20 seconds to fall back to the ground again.

But the problem is waiting for them to land in order for them to wake up. And don't even get me started on getting KO'd in orbit.

Well yeah... but I was just explaining why it takes longer for his kerbals to settle on Gilly than on Kerbin.

This, its also an issue in orbit, especially the ladder ejects who feels unfair, its perfectly ok that an kerbal get knocked out if hitting an space station hard, by grabbing an ladder at an odd angle while moving at 0.2 m/s is not.
Worse is getting airborne on Gilly also give an timeout.

A lot of the times if you push "R" it will activate the EVA pack and return control to you.

That doesn't work if they're still in ragdoll mode and unable to move. Try activating your RCS to get back up after being hurled down a hill on Minmus.

They key phrase in that sentence was "a lot of the times." As in, not every time.

Better to offer constructive advice that may help instead of just complaining about it.
