Simple name changer setting for forum?

So, there is a forum post were you can ask for a name change, but you can only do it once and i dont think i can trust them 100%. But if a name changing option on the forum is added (that allows you to change your name every 24 hours or so), i will be happy and i will change my name. Im not a master coder. Its just a suggestion from a boi wo does not know anything about making websites.

If they mess up your name I think they will correct it. I think the current method is fine, every 24 hours would be mayhem for a forum.

These were the forum moderators you were talking to, look back on the thread and you'll notice that every request they initiated just fine unless they technically couldn't do it. Yes you can trust them around 99.99%. As for the one name change per user I believe it is to conserve usable usernames - You cannot rename yourself to a name that used to belong to someone else to avoid impersonation or identity theft.

But what if they accidently misspelled something, thats why i dont trust it, they cant change it back.

They wont misspell it as long as you don't. If for whatever highly unlikely reason they do then I'm sure they will fix it (as long as the error is on their part), I don't think that the one name change is a technical restriction, just a moral one.

That would be anarchy, you'd never know who you were talking to (it's bad enough with a single name change).

@Wraith977 has most of the points correct: The one-change limit is a deliberate administrative limit, not a technical one. If there's a typo in a change an admin makes it will be fixed.
