KSP Endgame

What is endgame? haha. I've been playing since 2013 and only just recently launched a probe to Duna. Not that I lacked the skills to do so before, I just was having too much fun in Kerbin's SOI! So much left to do in this game!

End game: My lander is about to descend onto the castle, then Jeb is gonna run past King Koopa, optionally fireball him a bit (*), and rescue the princess. Then he's gonna start a new career.

(*) Fireballs are always an option

I would not be too sure, whenever I do this, I just find another stranded Kerbanaut who tells me that the princess is in another pod.

My astronaut complex if getting pretty full and I am going to need to start building non-automated bases soon...

I've got a probe on a FORTY YEAR Hohmann transfer to Plock!

I spent more dV and got that down to 11 years.

I have a grand tour probe doing a Sarnus & Urlum flyby and Nedion insertion... 17 years to Nedion.

I've been running the same save since 1.0 came out. My endgame plan was initially to have a colony on Duna, Laythe, and Tekto. ISRU on Gilly, Duna, Ike, Laythe, val/bop/pol, ISRU on Tekto and another moon of sarnus, ISRU on a moon of Urlum, ISRU on Thatmo, orbital stations for each planet(not each world/body, but rather one per planetary SOI, even if it has multiple moons), kerballed missions to each planet... Then I developed a set of mobile surface base modules that could be transported in a mk3 cargobay+ramp, and planned to have a dropship to move surface bases around for each planet.

Then I realized how many missions I had started and never finished. Before the eve and duna return windows even came (after the arrival of my first kerballed missions which left nearly as soon as realistically possible), I had 6 craft on the way to jool (1 kerballed, another 3 laythe specific ones),  a dedicated sarnus probe outbound, a faster grand tour probe outbound, a plock probe outbound, a Dres mission arriving, and two more "exploration ships" (a lab, docking ports, LFO reserves for a lander, large dV reserves, two probes to scan for ore [one with a NBS], in orbit of Mun fully fueled with massive reusable KR-2L ejection boosters ready to send them on the way to an outer planet) awaiting landers/surface bases/ISRU ships/other elements of a kerballed mission to the outer planets to be launched concurrently with them (as in the jool flotilla)... A mission was on the way to my modded planet Rald at pseudo-kerbin-Sun-L4

and I realized that the only missions I had completed were ones to Mun/Minmus/moho.

I also realized my save file was getting huuuuggggeeee.

I've brought my kerbals home from mun and minmus bases and ceased shuttling crews there to operate the labs.

I've abandoned any further constuction of Sarnus/Urlum/Nedium mission elements... those exploration shios just sit there orbiting... at least not until my probes get there.

20+ mill in the bank, several thousand of science stockpiled, only 3 kerbals at level 4 and above, not enough kerbals to launch missions to sarnus, urlum, and nedion... and training more to lvl3 is just busy work

I'm now just focused on finishing missions I started, not starting new ones.

I'm also looking into ways to recover the ships I already have up there.

I still have reusable parts of my Moho mission in orbit that weren't intended to get recovered... but I don't really want to launch another moho mission.

I have numerous tugs that I don't use much anymore. I have derelict surface bases on mun/minmus. I have derelict small ISRU craft that lack radiatios from before we needed them.....

I'm thinking of just deleting them.

I'm also thinking of backing them up to a file of derelict craft that I don't want to forget, but I don't want the game to continue dealing with... that I can add back to my save later if I want.

I never restart. I've had one career since its introduction in 0.22 all the way up to 0.90. I only started anew for the 1.0 update but I basically stopped playing at after 1.1 because of the new wheels and the fact that BahamutoD left.

I just love seeing all the debris from things I built a few years ago. It'd be great if KSP had some kind of museum where you could view old craft or even import it (complete with legacy models if possible).
