Notably if you look at the stringers on the tanks you can see a bit of 'glint' caused by the reflections.  The engines as well still have nice reflections on them, merely they are reflecting a gray skybox this time.

Thanks, almost assumed so. To me the rims of the tanks also look very plastic. Guess we gotta wait and see how the stuff looks in current KSP!

They showed it by launching an MK1 pod a top of the big SLS booster straight up. In old KSP's, it would have 100% burned up, but now it only gets reasonably warm.

That should mean that it shouldn't be as hard for jets to break the sound barrier anymore! Maximum survivable speed could be higher as well.

Remember, if you opt in it's for testing purposes only. Pure stock experience and *test all the things for bugs \o/", no actual base for a normal playthrough. Seems to drown a little in here what's the purpose behind it. :)
