Propellers?

Recommended Posts

So, I watched a video on stock propellers in KSP. I have some idea on how it should work, but I wonder how the control surfaces should be aligned/which way they should be facing. How big should they be? I'm going to spin them by reaction wheel power. I heard something about holding down a few buttons to keep the propeller spinning. What's that key combo again?

Sounds like you're talking about trim? Like if you designed your propeller to spin by the "yaw right" input by holding the "d" key?

If so then you want to hold Alt-d for a few seconds. That will set the trim to full yaw right, and hold it there without you or SAS giving any other input. Press Alt-x to cancel all trim and return it to zero.

How do you get SAS to stop counteracting any trim input? Whenever I activate SAS it appears to override completely any previous-set trim.

Correct. Perhaps I worded that part a bit poorly. To my knowledge trim will not work at all with SAS on.

Ah, ok. I'm relieved - I thought for a while that I had missed yet another useful feature (i.e. prohibiting SAS from taking over certain control surfaces).
