Monopropellant Only To... Where?

So, I was wondering if I could make a challenge for myself to only use monopropellant to go into orbit or somewhere in the Kerbin SOI.

Any thoughts? I'm not going to to do it if no one wants me to. NO ONE has actually used only mono to get into orbit yet in Version 1.0. So this will be a new record!

I have never considered doing that. I also find it interesting that no one has done it in 1.0 (or later I suppose). I'd definitely like to see what you come up with.

*EDIT: Ah...didn't see Kerbart's post...well, still might be worth a try to see what designs, methods you create.

OH MY GOD! I DID IT! I LANDED IT ON MINMUS!

Unfortunately, Imgur button is not here anymore, so take a look at the link.

Mono Mun (rocket went to Minmus using MONOPROP!

You're aware that Das Valdez is live-streaming his 15000+DV ship propelled (in the most literal sense of the word) by MP tanks?

huh?

ok, so my drama wasn't necessary. OK. Who is Das Valdez anyway?

He's abusing a... let's call it "feature" in 1.2. Basically if you stage a part that's clipped by legs it katapults away at ridiculous speeds. So he's made a stock "cannon" that has a 4-stage loading cycle to load a monopropellant tank in the "chamber", dock it, clamp it with large lander legs, and stage (undock) it. At that point it gets launched with a couple of 100g. Enter Newton's second law, and it advances the ship at 150 m/s.  And then he has dozens of those on board. It's very nifty. Roverdude was impressed. I recommend checking it out on twitch. https://www.twitch.tv/dasvaldez

A KSP streamer that has recently discovered an interesting game mechanic allowing to propell a part using landing legs. Right now he's using this to make a stock Orion drive which literally shoots monoprop tanks to accelerate.

My point is that no one has used a rocket which used monopropellant as fuel which is BURNED (if that's how monopropellant works), consumed,  and is used as propulsion for my, or the, rocket.

This would be a cool challenge.

Sounds like it would make a great challenge.

Ok. I'll make it a challenge. I'm glad people like the idea.

Edit: Ok! the forum is up and running.

Challenge: Monopropellant to anywhere!

@IronCretin and @W. Kerman, you can go see that.
