SpectralValkyrie
Long time lurker, first time poster. I've always wondered what altitude one can reach using only air breathing engines. Therefore, the challenge is fairly simple: Jet engine Altitude Challenge: Launching from the surface of Kerbin, reach a maximum altitude above sea level. You do not have to sustain this altitude. You do not have to recover or man your craft, but that would be notable if you did! Air breathing engines only, RAPIERs may be used but you may not switch to closed-cycle Informational mods only (i.e. Kerbal Engineer) No extravagantly tall launch clamps, use of decouplers for thrust, etc. I reserve the right to disqualify an entry due to creative violation of the spirit of the rules, but I will give you respect for finding a loophole. No excessive offsetting or clipping. A bit subjective I know, but I trust you all to know some reasonable limits No use of physics glitches Normal re-entry heating, no de-bug menu If you insist on using mods such as FAR, ask and I might be able to make a separate category
NightshineRecorralis
Does the jet engine have to go up with the craft? Or can it be staged?
SpectralValkyrie
No rule against staging
Deddly
Hi @SpectralValkyrie and welcome to the forum! It's really a great idea for a challenge, but it seems someone already made a thread for that: Hope to see how you get on with that (I'd better lock this thread thoughm to avoid confusion)
