Parts rotated 90 degrees in VAB

...what? When you grab them from the parts menu, they will be in the default orientation. Their orientation doesn't change until you hit the qewasd keys. I don't see how they could be "already rotated." There isn't any orientation for them to be rotated from than the one they start off as.

...I feel like there's something that's not being conveyed here... You say they're rotated 90 degrees... but from what?

He's saying that there should be an option such that when he places a Mk1 Command Pod, the hatch is facing directly east (or west?), rather than south, and that all parts should be in a similar orientation, exactly 90 degrees from the way they currently are by default, so that he does not need to rotate the entire ship (or each piece as it is placed).  This is probably due to the fact that it is a slight annoyance to do it every time, and it is sometimes easy to forget, or to mess up if one needs to rebuild a portion of a ship.

Good idea, OP.

Yeah, you change the default rotation.

Ah, with these other people mentioning the ascent, this makes more sense now. I wasn't getting anything about stuff outside the editor from your OP, so I was befuddled.

What's funny is that building in the VAB used to be aligned East-West, and the rockets got rotated 90 degrees when being put on the launchpad. So they always ended up aligned North-South.

People didn't like that the orientatchanged between scenes, so now they start aligned North-South stay that way on the launchpad.

I guess wanting to have an option to make both of them East-West, is reasonable. Might be a little harder than simply rotating the parts though, because they'd also have to get the symmetry code to recognize the new orientation too.

Yeah, but it'd be nice to have

I already said this on some other topic on this subject, but I always thought this was the wrong fix - I'd also like my default orientation to be the one with the keel pointing east so a gravity turn is "pitch down". I don't suppose Squad will change this, tho, since it was a deliberate change made quite some versions ago.
