Action groups for science instruments only work once?

I'm playing with the Iktomi build I did earlier this month, assigning an action group to all of the science instruments. Figured it would be handy for very brief passes through a planet's upper atmosphere.

I'm finding that, with the exception of the Materials Bay and Goo, I can only trigger an instrument once using an action group. With the Goo and Materials Bay I can trigger a cleanup with a mobile processing lab, and then I can use the action group to trigger those experiments again. Not so with the remaining instruments; even after collecting the data from those instruments to the MPL or a data storage capsule, I can't re-trigger them using the action group.

Have I missed some step to fully reset an instrument so I can use the action group again?

Using KSP 1.2.1, visual mods only, hence the reference to the data storage capsule.

I don't know about stock, but the "all y'all" mod has a nice option to perform all available science experiments at once.

Yep bewing, that's the behaviour I'm seeing.

As a workaround you can assign an actiongroup (I usually use abort) to clear all experiments/delete all reports.

Then the do-science-actiongroup should work again for all experiments...

That, in a sense, was the step I was missing. After collecting the data from the reusable instruments, 'resetting' them allows the original action group to work again.

I've moved on to automated science gathering via the mod  for science.   which just so happens to be my preferred screen name.   it automatically runs science and can reset as long as a scientist is on board.   has saved my pointer finger many many clicks.

I didn't think it was a bug, rather that science equipment can only collect one sample (with some exceptions in the case of mods) and you need to transfer the data out (and restore the experiment if necessary) before running it again.
